Experiences of my clarinet-lessons
Martin RubI enjoyed earlier more than 10 year’s lessons in clarinet in Switzerland, where I also grew up. By my employment I moved for half a year to Finland, where I wanted my lecturing in clarinet to be continued.
Some ways around I finally met Jörg Fabian Schnabel an enjoyed under his supervision my single lessons in clarinet.
Right from the beginning Jörg Fabian understood very well my musical and technical possibilities and could built a unique musical progress.
“Unique” means not only to train technical abilities of fingers only, but to meditate the tuning of musician and its instrument. Including breathing technique, correct carriage and as well interpretation. This type of lecturing was even more appreciated by me, not only developing several skills separately of a grown up student, but more the understanding as a whole.
I got even much more touch onto my clarinet and I got to know now, how my instrument reacts.
Secondly I got the opportunity to test out some several handmade mouthpieces completing my opinion, which the best material might be to succeed best in future.
By the large network created by Jörg Fabian I received the opportunity to perform and to accompany an opera chorus during a spontaneously planned Christmas project.
This is not quite self-evident, because I was not a member of a fixed formation and I received the change in playing a debut concert only by the coordination of my teacher.
These experiences and the personal touch I can recommend to any clarinetist of any age or level and together with lots of fun for any future development.
